As well, if we don’t start teaching our children about the value of being environmentally conscious, where will our grandchildren be in the future? While there has been a lot of talk about adults doing their part to keep the earth safe and secure their future ahead, there hasn’t been enough of a push to educate the younger generation about the importance of sustainability.

Set a Good Example and Talk about It

The best way to teach youngsters is to educate them in a hands-on manner. What better way to do this than by buying them sustainable clothes and then letting them know why this choice is being made?

When you walk into any school, whether it is an elementary, middle or secondary school, you’ll see all the latest fashion designer logos appearing on the children’s clothes. Most of these sweaters, jeans, T-shirts etc. are a fashion statement to prove that the child or the young adult is cool. This is what we’re up against as adults right now and the desire to be a part of the group by wearing socially accepted clothing is happening at a younger and younger age.

The Teaching starts at a Young Age

You need to start teaching your children when they are very young that cool doesn’t mean wearing clothing that was manufactured in a third world nation by people, both young and old, that work in unsafe conditions. As well, you need to let your children know exactly how these fashion statement clothing articles are affecting the environment.

Up close and Personal with Your Children

By having these up-close and personal talks with your child when they are young, you can really give them a deeper understanding about the Earth and the future. Buy your child organic children’s clothing instead of the regular clothes on the shelves and give your child an education at the same time. This is a wonderful gift that you can give your child and means a lot more than keeping him in high fashion clothes that his peers will accept.

It’s More than Setting a Good Example

There’s a lot more to buying organic clothing for a child than simply helping the earth. You will be contributing to a further education that will help your grandchildren and their children in the future. There is no doubt that your child will talk to other children around him and let them know why he’s proud to be wearing his earth friendly garments. When enough parents take this stand and start discussing sustainability and eco-friendly concepts with their children early enough, there might be a chance for this world to survive.
