One of the best things to experience when in Taiwan is its cuisine, especially knowing that the country has a rich culinary history and dedication to food quality.
Thanks to the Taiwan Pork campaign sponsored by the Taiwan Ministry of Agriculture and led by the Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI) of Taiwan, we are now set to enjoy the same quality and have convenient access to these premium pork products in the Philippine market.
The campaign included suppliers such as Black Bridge Foods which is popular for its products with solid taste and aroma, Cha I Shan, a well-known pork processing company, integrating modern equipment and technology to produce top-of-the-line fresh pork, Du Hsiao Yueh, best-known for their traditional dan tzai noodles, one of the traditional Taiwanese signature cuisines, the multi-awarded Food Lee, leading meatball company Hairei, Jin Tian Food which also offers their bestselling Taiwanese meatballs, Odiva which produces top-quality and sustainable Taiwanese black pig pork, and Way Fong, prominent for being one of the leading brands in the pork jerky and pork floss market.
Last November 28, 2023, we visited the Taiwan Pork roadshow in Ayala Malls Manila Bay where we tried many of their offerings such as sausages, meatballs best for hotpots, pork floss, bacon jerky, canned spicy minced pork, pork belly, and many more ready-to-eat delights. The sausages are very similar to our Pinoy-style longganisa and chorizo with a sweet and juicy taste. I loved the pork chunks in sauce that are similar to the taste of our pares and pork adobo which are perfect to top on a hot bowl of rice.
The next day, we headed to Sofitel’s award-winning flagship restaurant Spiral to try Taiwanese pork products as they became part of the buffet menu. We had Taiwanese-style deep-fried pork chop, braised minced pork with rice, BBQ pork with osmanthus and honey sauce, pan-fried pork sausage, and meatball noodle soup.
Because the buffet is known for having not just lavish, but more importantly wide variety and of high quality dishes from Asia, these flavorful, succulent, and very tempting offerings for lunch were truly a great addition.
These dishes will be available on Spiral’s menu until January 29, 2024, and as soon as you see these Taiwan Pork products in major supermarkets and retailers nationwide, go try it and experience the difference.
