‘Laporta is by many the best president in the history of the club.’ Pique said. ‘Results are not everything. The members were lucky to be able to vote for him. I will give him time until his term ends. We have to be responsible for what we vote for.’
Laporta was re-elected as Barcelona president for a second term in March 2021 and will serve until 2026.
Despite talk of a no-confidence vote in Laporta’s job. Pique insists he is in the 61-year-old’s team for now. And says the current squad will need to adapt if there is another managerial change.
‘The players know they are at a club where things can change and if there is a change of coach. They will adapt and hopefully like the new coach,’ the 37-year-old former defender said.
