If you want a luxurious bath soak recipe with an intoxicating scent and skin-softening benefits, then our DIY milk and honey bath soak is perfect for you. Not only is it incredibly easy to make, it is also full of ingredients that are soothing to your skin.
This homemade milk and honey bath soak recipe uses moisturizing ingredients to make a fragrant and beautiful bath that is perfect for a spa day at home.
Cleopatra is said to have indulged in honey milk baths and she was known for her beauty! Maybe she realized the beneficial properties of these ingredients long ago.
Milk can soften the skin because of its lactic acid and proteins. Honey is a natural humectant and moisturizes the skin while also soothing and softening.
We added a little bit of sweet almond oil for even more moisturizing benefits, as well as a variety of essential oils to make a milk and honey bath that smells amazing!
While flowers can add some benefits, these flowers are really used just to make the DIY milk bath pretty and smell good.
Our Milk and Honey Bath uses many of the same ingredients as our Oatmeal Milk Bath Soak. You can easily make both of these bath products at the same time.
DIY Milk and Honey Bath Soak

- 1 Teaspoon Powdered Honey (you can also use real honey if not storing this for long)
- 1 Teaspoon Sweet Almond Oil
- 10 drops Calendula Essential Oil
- 7 drops Jasmine Essential Oil

- ½ cup Epsom salts
- ¼ cup Dried Calendula Petals
- ¼ cup Dried Jasmine Buds

Step 1
Add the honey, sweet almond oil, and all of the essential oils into a small bowl and stir together.
Step 2
Add the milk powder to a medium bowl, then pour the oil and honey mixture into it.
Stir to combine the ingredients together. It may be easier to use your hands to knead it together, rather than trying to stir with a spoon.

Next, add in the Epsom salts and stir to combine all ingredients together.
Step 4
Now add the dried flowers to the mixture. Stir the flowers in gently to combine.
Add to a air-tight jar to store.
Helpful Tips
How Much Should I Use in a Bath?
Use at least half a cup, or 8 tablespoons, in a bath. As some bath tubs are much bigger than others, you may need to use more if you have a large tub.
Can I Use Regular Powdered Milk?
Yes, any type of powdered milk will work in this homemade bath soak. Cow’s milk or goat milk will give the same results. Coconut milk powder can be substituted but it does not have lactic acid, so the skin moisturizing properties will come from its oils.
Can I Leave Out the Epsom Salts?
Yes, you can omit the epsom salts if you would like. While epsom salts are great for soothing tired muscles as well as adding magnesium, they are not necessary for the moisturizing properties.
How Do I Store This Milk Bath Soak?
Store this homemade milk bath in an air-tight container away from direct light, heat or high humidity. We prefer using a glass jar, but you can store it in a plastic container if needed. This is perfect to store in a cabinet or drawer, but don’t place it in a windowsill!
If giving as a gift, we suggest storing in a clear glass jar to show off the beautiful floral bath soak!
Can the Flower Petals Go Down the Tub Drain?
While the small pieces of flower petals can easily go down the drain with your bathwater, we suggest scooping out the larger pieces to avoid clogging.
Using an inexpensive bathtub drain strainer can save you a lot of hassle from having to scoop out the petals and oatmeal.
