Big News! And A Great Green Holiday Giveaway

First the big news: I am moving! After 12+ years in our current home in Virginia, my husband and I are packing up the kiddos (and dogs and cats,) and heading to Pennsylvania.

I won’t lie. This whole process has been bittersweet. My husband got a great new job that he is very excited about, this is a new part of the world for all of us that we can’t wait to explore, and PA offers a lot of advantages for homeschoolers (school sports!) that the girls want to try.

But, oh the friends we are leaving behind. That’s the hard part. Over the last decade plus, we have made some amazing friends and enjoyed the benefits of living in a community where you know everyone and you know they’ve got your back. That’s not something you can walk away from lightly.

So we are entering into this move with open arms, but heavy hearts.

And what can all of this possibly have to do with a giveaway?

Do you know how much cleaning is involved in moving? There is the constant cleaning of the house you currently live in while it is on the market. (Pro tip: It’s pretty hard to keep a house “show room” clean and ready to be viewed by strangers at a moment’s notice when you have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats.) And I won’t even get into how a little piece of your soul dies every time someone pokes around your home and judges your life based on your clutter and whether or not you have clean baseboards.

Then there is the new house. We were fortunate in that the house we bought was professionally cleaned after the previous owner moved out. In fact, as I walked around our new space, I couldn’t help but reflect upon the fact that after my 2 kids, and 2 dogs, and 2 cats move in – not to mention my husband and myself – the place would probably never be that clean again.

But still, even though it looked great, you know I had to do a pretty good once over just to wipe away the strangeness and make the place a little more mine.

And while I thought my wipe downs with vinegar and water were doing the trick, I can now see the difference between moving the dust around and actually removing it from my home.

And my windows!  My windows have never been so clean. (Did I mention already that I have 2 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 cats?) That’s a lot of smudgy fingerprints and wet noses so I am constantly wiping those things down. And if there is one thing I hate it is a streaky window. Still, it’s hard to get a good streak-free clean – especially with green cleaners. But there is an Ultra Microfiber cloth specifically designed for glass and all you need to do is add a little water and viola! Streak-free, squeaky clean windows!

It’s hard to capture the crud on my windows, but if you look closely you could see it in the bottom left. That was gone in a jiffy with these microfiber cloths and a little water!

I have never been able to get the test and pet hair off of my TV in one swipe. Until now.
